The Kingdom of Hungary was restored in 1920 through a series of revolutions in the interwar period. in In 1940, the Kingdom of Hungary joined the Axis powers and demanded the concession of Transylvanian territory from Romania. Nazi Germany helped Hungary receive significant portions of Transylvania while trying to avoid war with Romania.
