Czechoslovakia

Czechoslovakia is a minor country on the border of Central and Eastern Europe. Historically, since 1933 it was the only democracy in central Europe, and a part of the League of Nations. It was involved in the "Little Entente" pact with Romania and Yugoslavia, intended to defend aganist Hungarian expansion.
Czechoslovakia had an advanced system of borderline forts and bunkers (sometimes referred to as the Beneš line, in honour of the second Czechoslovak president, Eduard Beneš), based on and intended to outclass the French Maginot Line. The system was intended to be finished by 1946, but the construction was halted by German occupation.
On the 1st of October 1938, Czechoslovakia was forced by the unified pressure of Nazi Germany, the United Kingdom and France from the Treaty of Munich to cede its' border regions to Germany, Poland and Hungary. Germany gained nearly all of the unifinished bunker line, the mountains bordering the northern and western parts of the country, and what was left wasn't much use in defense.
After the Second World War and liberation by Soviet and American forces, while the president expected a return of Western democracy, Czechoslovakia became a socialist state and a Soviet satellite, beginning in 1948.
